NYSALC held it’s 63rd biennial Convention

NYSALC held it’s 63rd biennial Convention at the Long Island Hilton, Huntington, on 6/30-7/2 2019....252 delegates representing 19 branches attended along with 17 NYSALC officers and Executive Board members. We were joined by National President Fred Rolando, Director of Life Insurance Jim Yates, NBA Region 11 Mark Camilli, RAAs John Collins, Dave Kennedy,Region 15 NBA Larry Cirelli and RAAs Tom Matthews,Orlando Gonzalez, and N.E.Region A/L.P.O. Marc Ashmon, RGAs Mike Brim, Kevin Flaherty, RWCA Bill Bothwell, retired NBA Regin 11 Bill Cooke, RAA John Walsh, Past NALC Vice President and Region 15 NBA George Mignosi, and Past NYSALC Presidents Dom Pacile and Frank Gallo
The early breakout training given by Marc Ashmon was well attended and greatly appreciated…The afternoon breakouts done by both NBAs and Staff, were likewise well attended and informative..
The general session was addressed by Long Island Federation of Labor President John Durso and Executive Director Roger Clayman. We then were inspired by a visit from Mike Martinez, a Branch 6000 member who lost one leg and had major injuries sustained from being hit by a drunk driver while taking mail out from the rear of his USPS vehicle…He is doing much better but still has a way to go..
We passed 2 of 4 resolutions and 1 Constitutional Amendment in session, and President Rolando spoke on Legislative goals, and the parameters of the new negotiations for our National Agreement..The nominations saw the entire block of Officers and Executive Board re-elected with minor changes..
Director of Life Insurance Jim Yates then presided over the installation of officers on Tuesday morning..We also had a visit from NY CD 3 Congressman Tom Suozzi, who thanked us for our support, and pledged his support for all of our initiatives, and awarded all NYSALC Officers with a certificate of Congressional recognition for our job in furthering the advancement of Letter Carriers in New York and Puerto Rico

My personal Thanks, to all Officers and Executive Board members, for a professional and well organized event that was enjoyed by everyone..Special accolades to Branch 6000, and President Walter Barton, for an outstanding job..
